New KSTA Director

Scott Moses, Trooper

Board Position:

Troop B Director

How long have you worked for KHP?

My KHP career began December

2014 when I was hired on as a Capitol

Police Officer in Topeka, formerly

radio number K-1066. I made the transition to trooper

graduating with KHP academy class #56, and am now

When did you join KSTA and why did you decide to

become a member?

I joined KSTA immediately after

signing on with Capitol Police. At that time one of my

FTOs, now Lieutenant Crystal Golightley, held the

position as Secretary for KSTA, and I heard many of

the benefits that were offered with my membership.

Whydidyoudecide toget involvedas a troopdirector?

I joined the KSTA board after my FTO Master Trooper,

now Lieutenant, Jeremy Harwood was promoted and

had to resign as troop director. I helped him on a couple

of instances during FTO as well as after. Lieutenant

Harwood asked if I would be interested in taking over

for him. I gladly accepted the position.

Why do you think KSTA is an important

 KSTA is an important organization

because I see that it focuses on the best interest of the

Highway Patrol's members. From promoting a new

work schedule, to ensuring we have the best gear, to

legal counsel. Knowing there is a group of people

who generally care about the Highway Patrol and its

personnel is reassuring.

What hopes/goals do you have for the KSTA in the

My hopes, dreams, and goals as a KSTA

board member are to learn and carry on where

Lieutenant Harwood left off. I want to be able to help

other members of the KSTA and to bring my Troop's

problems up to a group of people so we can find a

solution/resolution. I also hope to use this opportunity

to learn more about how the Patrol operates, not just

in my troop, but statewide.
